Vision for a barrier-free tourism

Going on holidays and traveling have become some of the most important leisure activities. Everyone wants to use their annual leave to their fullest satisfaction.

The idea that people with special needs should have the same opportunities to enjoy their holidays over an equal period of time is an idea which is fairly new in the tourism industry. Due to the rising number of elderly people who are used to travelling, the demand for barrier-free holidays has increased rapidly. Therefore, the concept of creating a place for people with reduced mobility, where they can experience a memorable stay with their family and friends, arose.

A successful vacation does not only depend on the hotel, but also on the framework programme and the activities offered. For this reason, it is a must for the planned hotel complex to propose several leisure-time activities such as sports (e.g.: tennis, basketball, handball, archery, table-tennis) and wellness.

Because people with reduced mobility often need to be in medical care, it makes sense to conceive a medical spa instead of just a regular wellness-spa.

A medical spa is defined as a facility for wellness with medical support. The performance spectrum includes everything from preventative and sports medical check-ups and fitness checks, to holistic and specific therapies such as wellness treatments and massages.

The aim of this concept is to generally increase both quality of life and vigour. The entire project (hotel, outdoor sports-facilities, gymnasiums, spa, aqua-park) needs to fulfil the requirements of accessibility.
